My name is Dr. Deok-Bok Moon from Asan Medical Center,
University of Ulsan College of Medicine, and I am honored to assume
the role of the 12th President of the Korean Liver Transplantation Society (KLTS).
The Korean Liver Transplantation Society has played a pivotal role in advancing academic excellence and clinical achievements in the field of liver transplantation, while contributing significantly to improving patient survival and quality of life.,
During the tenure of my predecessor, Dr. Kwang-Woong Lee, our society achieved several meaningful milestones. We officially adopted the name “Korean Liver Transplantation Society (KLTS)” to strengthen our identity and international consistency, expanded our annual autumn meeting into an international congress, and promoted regional engagement by hosting regular seminars outside Seoul.
Furthermore, we have evolved beyond a surgery-centered structure into a truly multidisciplinary society involving experts from diverse fields. In recognition of these efforts, KLTS has been formally admitted as a member society of the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences.
This marks an important turning point for our society as we prepare for the next stage of growth. I am deeply honored to take on this responsibility at such a significant time and feel a strong sense of duty. During this new term, the 12th executive board will strive to further strengthen our academic standing, deepen multidisciplinary collaboration, and promote qualitative growth in international exchange, education, and research. We will also work to ensure balanced development of liver transplantation activities across both metropolitan and regional areas, while identifying and improving areas that may have been previously underdeveloped.
I firmly believe that the continued progress of our society depends not on the efforts of a single president, but on the active participation and dedication of all our members. I sincerely ask for your continued interest and support in the coming year. Together, through open communication and collaboration, we will endeavor to make meaningful contributions to academic advancement and patient care in the field of liver transplantation.
At the beginning of 2026, as we stand at the threshold of a new leap forward, I ask for your continued support to help KLTS rise to even greater heights.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Deok-Bok Moon, MD, PhD
President, Korean Liver Transplantation Society (KLTS)
